Meet ‘Pattern Finder’ Hamzah, football reporter from The Times

When you think of data journalism, people often forget it can tie in with some of your biggest passions. For Hamzah, his love for data and uncovering new angles to tell stories has led to him working at The Times and focusing on his passion, football. After receiving a bursary from the Journalism Diversity Fund to complete his training, he now splits his time between travelling across the world to cover matches and interviewing players, coaches and managers daily, and is always looking for insights through sifting data and all the stats to help tell stories to fans that make them understand the game that little bit better.
